Born on the 3rd of August 1991 as Mohamed Hassan Abdelmoaty Mohamed, known universally as Mizo Amin—a triple-threat leader whose journey is rooted in both legacy and innovation. The historic city of Giza, Cairo, is Mizo’s birthplace, with roots tracing back to a well-respected family and tribe in Aswan, but his heart and history are firmly planted in Doha, Qatar, where he has lived for 34 vibrant years and counting. He is the oldest son of the esteemed Amin family, a heritage enriched not only by his father, former Captain/Coach Hassan Amin, but also by the unwavering support and wisdom of his mother, Lubna. He cemented his strategic mindset by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Management from Qatar University—an academic foundation that fuels his current roles as an enthusiastic IT expert and entrepreneur (founder of Punchy Store). Today, Mizo channels this experience directly onto the court, serving as the Team Captain of Al Shamal Sports Club and a fixture on the Qatar National Team, and sharing his long experience as a Basketball Skills Coach. Yet, his proudest role is at home: happily married to Nada Deraz and a devoted father of four beautiful children: our eldest, Jude, followed by Layla, and the fierce twin boys, Hassan and Fareed. Whether leading a team, building a business, or navigating the beautiful chaos of fatherhood, Mizo’s life is a vibrant testament to his twin philosophies: the dedication that “A Leader is a Reader” and the courage, as Paulo Coelho once said, to “Be Brave, take Risks. Nothing can Substitute Experience in Life.”
Mizo’s commitment to the game started early, lacing up his shoes for the first time at the tender age of four years old. This incredible longevity saw him dedicate many formative years to Al-Rayyan Sports Club, where his leadership qualities flourished, leading him to serve as a team captain for a significant part of his career before moving to Al Shamal. As a recognized basketball mega superstar in Qatar and a prominent public figure, his professional journey has been a passport, taking him traveling the world for games and tournaments. When he’s not competing or training, Mizo indulges his passion for knowledge by reading books and connecting directly with his audience by writing engaging blogs about his career, travel, and insights into life.
Mizo’s impact on the court is backed by extraordinary achievements. He holds the distinction of being the youngest player ever selected to join the Qatar National Team Men’s Squad, setting the stage for his elite career. His renowned sharpshooting prowess earned him the title of the Best Three-Point Shooter in the Gulf Region (Manama, Bahrain 2017) and was selected by FIBA as one of the top seven shooters in the Asian continent in 2015 (Changsha, China), cementing his reputation as a premier scorer.
